Handmade Mosaics

Roman Mosaic Collection

The earliest known examples of mosaics were found in Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium BC; they were made from coloured stones, shells and ivory.

Many elements of original Roman mosaics make an enchanting subject for a mosaic panel. These can be delivered finished and ready to hang or install. For example, “Cave Canum” - Beware of the Dog - from the House of the Tragic Poet (Pompeii, 2nd Century BC) looks impressive in the ground near the doorstep, on a garden wall, or in the entrance hall.

Panels can have many uses: a Roman design as a kitchen splashback or an intricate pattern on a bathroom floor or wall. See more photographs in the Gallery.
